Introduction

   My name is Kelly Bessem, I'm twenty-two years old, and I'm taking ENGL 1A as a junior! I move around a lot and it wasn't until this school year that I finally went onto campus and took the English placement test. After graduating high school I got a job in Yosemite National Park, which inspired me to travel. While going to school online I've lived in places such as South Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Sedona, and Midpines. At the moment I'm studying abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica!    I've attended four different colleges over the past three years because I wanted to do all of my schooling online- specifically through California community colleges. After virtually going to school all over the state I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! If my study abroad classes in Costa Rica go well this Spring I will only need one year at a university. In Fall '15 I'll be transferring to CSU Channel Islands in order to complete my Liberal Arts BA. I'd like to eventually become an online teacher after I get my credential and masters degree. I'm planning on taking a gap year for the '14-'15 school year so that I can teach English in Spain for 9 months.

   I'm drawn to scenic places and love to learn new things. Creativity, comedy, and cooking are also important to me. I tend to be shy so my New Year's resolution for this year has been to talk to as many people as I can. Already this year I've gotten to meet people who are now some of my best friends in the whole world. I enjoy maintaining a blog as a way to express myself and share my memories with others. As of now I have very limited experience with blogging, but I am improving. Blogging could contribute to my dream of supporting myself in an online format. Ultimately I want a job that allows me to work hard and is also flexible.
